Principal

Chehalis School District

Closing date: Mar 3, 2024

The Chehalis School District serves 3,158 students in grades P-12 at five locations (two
elementary schools, one 6-8 grade middle school, one comprehensive 9-12 grade high
school and one alternative high school). The district also serves 18-21 year old students with
special needs in a program called VISIONS and incarcerated youth at Green Hill Academic School and Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center. The district has incredible support from the community and is very fortunate to be a recipient of an active Chehalis Foundation. We are engaged in an ongoing Student Achievement Initiative that has brought us many partnerships and opportunities. We believe in learners today, leaders tomorrow and do everything we can to make sure each student is career and college ready. In 2013 the Chehalis School District began an effort called the Student Achievement Initiative (SAI) which continues to this day. The initial goal was to increase the post-high school credential completion of our students from the national average of between 20-30% to 60% for the graduating Class of 2022. Numerous data points show success toward this outcome for our students as evidenced by the fact that 100% of our graduates were admitted to college for the past four years (2020-2023). The district will soon announce new achievement targets for coming years.

W.F. West High School has high expectations for ALL students. The 90 staff members and district leadership believe ALL students can perform at high levels and together provide them with the support to reach these expectations. W.F. West High School serves 908 students in grades 9-12. Our music program (band, choral and orchestra) is one of the most highly regarded in the state. Advanced Placement and College in the High School History, English, Math and Science courses are open to all students who commit to challenging themselves. We have a STEM wing equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including an Electron Scanning Microscope and a growing CTE program and partnership with Centralia College. District and League titles and many District and State opportunities give athletes the
recognition they deserve for the time and effort they spend in our competitive athletic programs. Our Knowledge Bowl, Forensics and Drama programs consistently deliver outstanding results/performances. W.F. West High School has one of the most generous scholarship programs in the state. In the past year local foundations and scholarships organizations gave more than $1,125,000 to our senior class.
